I just returned from San Francisco after attending Food Fete, the creme de la creme of media events for the food industry. It’s during the Fancy Food trade show so food related companies can mingle with food bloggers and newspaper reporters overcocktails and hors d’oeuvres (yes, it’s a tough life).

This was our first year at the event and we loved getting our *fete* on with prominent foodies in one of the yummiest cities in the country. It was also pretty cool (and humbling) to know that the foodie crowd has as much passion for our step cans and other kitchen organization tools as the food itself. A pairing made in heaven, mais non?

To give you a rundown of the night – simplehuman style – here are my highlights:

▪ meeting Lessley Anderson of CHOW in person – she wrote about our sink caddy on CHOW back a few weeks ago (and I’m a HUGE Chowhound – that’s how I ate my way around SF!)
▪ sipping on Sub Rosa’s Tarragon flavored vodka
▪ talking “trash” with the lovely women of the Napa Valley Register – they loved our steel bar rectangular step can and its bonus sorting buckets
▪ learning all-things frozen meals from Abi Jones of Heat Eat Review Blog (no more dinner disappointments during those busy work days)
▪ showing off our new bamboo cabinet organizers to new foodie website, FoodandHome.com (the site is coming soon – reviews and food news will be featured)
▪ getting to know the guys of Eclipse Chocolat – an up and coming chocolatier from San Diego who makes it all by hand (me + Sea-Salt Nib = bliss)

The best point of the night was talking to people who truly understand the joie de vivre, if you will, of simplehuman – designing tools to make people more efficient at home – especially the kitchen. I can’t wait until the next time I can share simplehuman’s latest tools for the home chef with the foodie folk (as well as nibble on tasty new culinary trends!).
