A home office should be a haven, our own stationary spaceship to far off worlds of work, fact-finding and entertainment. And our desk is the command center.

In this New York Times article, Penelope Green set out to find the perfect desk to command from during the topsy turvy travails of this recession. Looking for something budget-conscious, functional and even feng shui approved, here's a slideshow of what she found. (Unfortunately, the winner in the latter two categories–Herman Miller's Airia  [pictured]–was way over-budget.)

And if none of those are what the captain ordered, maybe Apartment Therapy's best desks under $200 will do the job.
