Between the presidential election and the latest developments in the economy, you may find yourself checking news sites or political blogs more and more these days. (Or perhaps you’re burrowing into celebrity blogs instead, the news is so distressing.) But opening your favorite sites up one at a time and scanning each one for updates can be incredibly time-consuming. If this sounds like you, you might want to try an RSS reader.
RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication". It’s a standardized way for Web sites that update frequently — including blogs, news sites, audio and video collections — to syndicate their content. You subscribe to these "feeds" using an RSS reader, which shows you the latest updates from all your favorite sites in one place.
One of our favorites is NewsGator Online, a free, web-based RSS reader. It’s a snap to set up and you can access it anywhere. NewsGator also makes RSS readers for Mac, Windows, the iPhone, other mobile phones and Microsoft Outlook. They all make tracking your favorite sites a quick and easy process.
You won’t believe how much easier it is to stay on top of the news.
