Your friends may have been raving about The Sopranos and The Wire for years, but you don’t have HBO. Or maybe you found it impossible to stick with Lost the last couple of seasons when it’s been on hiatus, then back on again … (what’re Kate and Sawyer up to these days?). And of course we haven’t even mentioned the commercials.
Happily there’s a much better way to watch these series, which are some of the best TV in history. You can buy episodes from iTunes, with many now offered in HD — they look spectacular. Many cable companies, including Comcast and Time Warner, also offer individual shows on demand. But our favorite way has to be TV on Netflix. They carry 5300 television DVDs right now — all your favorite shows and then some. You can have a Weeds marathon with your friends or enjoy a single, half-hour episode of Sex and the City before nodding off at night. Either way you don’t have to suffer through (or fast-forward through) commercials. Try it and you’ll never go back to broadcast.
