Congratulations to our three winners of
the first annual simple solutions design competition! The contest was intended to promote creative
problem-solving among students through product design, and by doing so,
increase public attention and awareness of industrial design. Open to all currently enrolled students of National
Association of Schools of Art and Design
(NASAD) degree programs, nearly 100 entries were received for this first annual competition. Endorsed by the Industrial Designers Society of America, the
designs were judged on utility, efficiency, innovation, research
utilized and aesthetics of the project.

The awards were as follows:

First Prize – $5,000 scholarship to Jason Culler from Brooklyn, NY for a mail collector + tote

Second Prize – $500 simplehuman gift
card to JonMikel Rodriguez from Huntington Beach, CA for a countertop pots and pans rack

Third Prize – $250 simplehuman gift card to Sara Downes from Denver, CO for an ensemble dog feeder.
