A prickly pineapple can be a bit intimidating when it comes to cutting and preparing, which is why we asked our resident pineapple expert and simplehuman Customer Service Manager, Olivia, to show us how it’s done.

1. Be sure to choose a pineapple with a sweet scent and dark green leaves. Start by cutting off the top of the pineapple.

2. Cut the prickly outer skin from the pineapple, one slice at a time.

3. Remove the "eyes" from the surface.

4. Cut the remaining piece into two halves.

5. Now cut each half into fourths.

6. Cut out the core from the center of each piece.
