If you’re about to break out the grill for Memorial Day weekend, make sure to prep by cleaning it thoroughly – regular cleaning will prolong the life of your grill, and food will be less likely to stick.  About.com describes how to get those grills clean.

1. Soak your cooking grates in warm soapy water before scrubbing with a stiff wire brush.
2. Clean out ash and reside from around the burner.
3. Use a stiff wire brush and a little soapy water to scrub the inside of the grill.
4. Coat inside surfaces and cooking grates with cooking spray.
5. Make sure you pre-heat the grill for an extra 5 minutes to burn off any cleaning residue.
