Forgot to buy a card for your Valentine?  Try this quick, adorable origami heart instead.  Leave it on someone’s desk for a tiny Valentine’s Day surprise.  You can even make it with simplehuman printed paper – but any square piece of paper will work just fine.

Step1

step 1 – Fold a square piece of paper in half.
step 2 – Fold it in half again the other way.
step 3 – Now fold each half in half again so that they meet at the crease in the middle.

Step2

step 4 – Flip the sheet over so that the two flaps are facing down.  Now fold two triangles at a right angle at the corners, about half an inch long.
step 5 – This part is tricky. Using the two folds you made as a guideline, fold down the edge of the paper, but leave a triangle at the edge of the fold.
step 6 – Fold down two tiny triangles at the center (where the two flaps meet on the other side).

Step3

step 7 – Fold the paper lengthwise.
step 8 – Fold down the two flaps on the right so that each forms a triangle.
step 9 – Now fold up the flaps on the other side so that they each form a triangle (the base of the heart.)

Step4_1

step 10 – Fold the flap down to create a stand for your heart.
step 11 – Place on someone’s desk.  They’ll love the thoughtful gesture.
