CashregisterThanksgiving is about family, friends, baked goods and full tummies, but the day after is the biggest shopping event of the year–otherwise known as Black Friday.  Make sure you’re prepared for a full day of extreme shopping, deep discounts, and long lines at the cash register.  We’ve compiled a list of tips to assist you in your bargain hunting:

1. Start EARLY. Some department stores have special early bird deals that begin as early as 5 AM.  We know it’ll be tough getting up after platefuls of turkey, but Target has a wake-up call service – just register on their site!
2. Be PREPARED.  Check out BlackFridayAds.Com and bfads.net for full listings of the best deals at some of the major chains.
3. Bring a FRIEND.  Long lines are a given this Friday–bring a shopping buddy that can wait in line at the cashier while you shop, then switch places.
4. Dress COMFORTABLY.  A comfy outfit will make it easier to change when trying on clothes.  That being said, don’t wear your knee-high stiletto boots when shoe shopping.
5. Shop WISELY.  Just because it’s on sale, doesn’t mean you should buy it.  When it comes to an item of clothing, think about how often you’d wear it, and calculate your CPW (cost per wear) rather than how big the discount would be.
